School Bus Crash: 13 Children, Driver Suffer Injuries On Long Island

The crash took place in Nassau County around 3:30 p.m., Monday, May 1 in East Meadow on Old Westbury Road.

According to Nassau County Police officers, a 2009 Toyota pickup truck traveling southbound on Old Westbury Road was in a collision with a 2005 school bus in the vicinity of Melanie Drive.

The 66-year-old driver of the school bus and 13 of the 41 children on board, ages kindergarten through 5th grade, were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, police said.

The 57-year-old operator of the Toyota pickup truck suffered injuries to his hip and was transported to an area hospital, currently listed in stable condition.

No criminality has been reported.
